Join us for a breathtaking evening of sacred music as Regi Cantorum celebrates the 200th birthday of Anton Bruckner, one of the most revered composers of choral and symphonic music. In response to overwhelming demand following our last sold-out concert at the Chapel of St. Basil—where standing-room was all that was left—we are thrilled to present this special performance in one of Houston's largest Catholic churches, St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church.

This concert marks a particularly exciting milestone for our choir, as it will be the second time Kevin Clarke directs Regi Cantorum. With his rich background in choral music and a deep appreciation for Bruckner's works, Kevin is eager to bring his passion back to the podium.

"Bruckner's music is a spiritual journey," Clarke shares. "It resonates deeply with both performers and listeners, creating a profound, shared experience. I'm honored to direct such a dedicated group of singers in a concert of this magnitude."

A Program to Remember

The concert program spans a wide range of Bruckner’s sacred music, from his early works to his mature, richly textured compositions:

  • Zwei Aequale WAB 114
  • Os justi meditabitur WAB 30
  • Ave Maria II & III WAB 6 & 7
  • Ecce sacerdos magnus WAB 13
  • And more, including Bruckner Symphony Chorale Hymn-Settings arranged by William Carragan

With Gustavo Andres on organ and special performances by soloists JP Williams, Karisma Mendoza, and Sean Jackson, this evening promises to be a transcendent celebration of Bruckner's deeply spiritual and evocative compositions.

Rafael Ramos, the founder of Regi Cantorum, emphasizes that this remains central to the choir's vision.

"Music, especially sacred music, should be accessible to everyone. We have carefully structured our pricing to ensure that more people can join us in experiencing the beauty and depth of Bruckner's compositions." - Regi Cantorum founder, Rafael Ramos

Don't Miss This Unforgettable Experience!

The works of Anton Bruckner are known for their majestic harmonies and profound spiritual depth. With such a remarkable program and the renowned acoustics of St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, this concert is set to be one of the most extraordinary musical events of the year. In a message to our ticket holders, John Proffitt from the Bruckner Society of America had this to say:

"The music of Anton Bruckner has been an artistic fixture of my life for almost sixty years, from my teens onward to today. I love classical music in all its variety, forms, and ages - gothic to 21st century and everything in-between. But Bruckner holds a special place in my firmament of great composers for his genius in writing music that speaks directly and profoundly to my soul. Music that uplifts and inspires as if offering a sublime connection to otherwise inexpressible and ineffable Eternal Truths. We, as mortals, cannot comprehend the vastness of the Universe and the Divine Presence that permeates each and every atom and molecule of that Universe. But, for me, Bruckner provides a glimpse of that Eternal Presence through his music. For me, it is impossible to hear Bruckner without sensing the inspiration that comes from God to the composer in his music. From the symphonies to his large-scale Masses to the smaller, exquisitely crafted motets, Bruckner writes music that touches and enriches my soul; and it is my hope that it does the same for you." - John Proffitt, Bruckner Society of America
